Aberdeen Firm Outstanding Employer in Moore County

ASHEBORO—Meridian Kiosks LLC of Aberdeen has been honored for excellence in partnering with the Pee Dee Region Workforce Development Board (WDB) which functions in coordination with Regional Consolidated Services of Asheboro.

           

Recognized as an Outstanding Employer, the ten-year-old business which was founded in the Sandhills was presented an award by the WDB at the board’s sixth annual Awards Banquet held recently (Thursday, June 4) at the Day’s Inn in Southern Pines. Three Moore county participants in programs conducted under provisions of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA)…Sonia Ellerbe, Rosa Yearby and Valerie Smith…also were cited with individual awards of excellence.

 

Moore, Montgomery and Richmond counties comprise the Pee Dee Region of the overall WIA program which RCS administers from its Asheboro offices. The Region’s WDB chose Meridian Kiosks for the Outstanding Employer award after the firm was nominated by the Moore County Jobink Career Center and the Employment Security Commission.

           

Over the past decade, Meridian Kiosks has developed into a leading manufacturer of kiosks and self-service devices in the United States. Headquartered at 312 Pine Street in Aberdeen, the company operates in 65,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space. Meridian Kiosks lists among  its customers WalMart, AT&T, Motorola and Food Lion.

           

Chris Gilder is the company’s CEO. Gildeer says that, as a strong supporter of Moore county, Meridian Kiosks continues to utilize the workforce development system to train its employees.
