Head Start Recruiting Underway By: Addison Penfield 2/25/2009
ASHEBORO—Family advocates for the Head Start Program administered in three counties by Regional Consolidated Services (RCS) of Asheboro have begun the process of recruiting preschoolers for the 2009/2010 Program Year. RCS Head Start Director Patti Horan has a message for parents in Alamance, Caswell and Randolph counties: if they have a child who will be three or four years old by August 31, 2009, the child may be eligible for the program. Head Start is a comprehensive pre-school program with emphasis on academic and social skills in preparation for the public school experience. RCS first operated the program in Asheboro and Randolph county in 1990. The non-profit agency took over in Alamance and Caswell counties in 1998 where classrooms function in Burlington, Graham and Yanceyville. Horan advises interested parents to contact family advocates by telephone The number in Alamance county is 336-226-5558; in Caswell, 336-694-5053; and in Randolph county, 336-672-5570. Information on Head Start in all three counties can be obtained by phoning the RCS main offices in Asheboro at 336-629-5141. |
