RCS to Hold Annual Dinner Meeting

ASHEBORO—Pointing toward its 30th anniversary celebration in 2009, Regional Consolidated Services (RCS) will hold its annual dinner meeting Tuesday evening, November 18, at The Exchange in Asheboro.

            Officers, directors and members of the staff of the human services agency will convene to honor colleagues for their extended service and to pay special tribute to a person chosen to receive the annual RCS Humanitarian Award. The identity of the award winner will be revealed during the after-dinner program.

            Previous winners have been Russell Walker, Charlie Robbins, Maria Bliss and John Matkins.

            Newly-elected officers and directors will be seated for one-year terms in formal induction ceremonies, They are: Maria Bliss, president; Nan Revell, vice president; Philip Shore, secretary; Blaine Ward, treasurer; and Daffie Mathews, Stacey Miller, Shawn Mabe and Ben Morgan, directors.

            The agency’s annual report will be distributed at the dinner. In it, highlights of the four major programs conducted by the private, non-profit organization during the past fiscal year (July 1, 2007-June 30, 2008) will be reviewed. They are: Head Start, Home Care, Workforce Development and Weatherization.

            Janice Scarborough of Asheboro founded Regional Consolidated Services in 1979, launching the agency with but one program in Randolph County. She has served as executive director ever since and presided over the expansion of the agency into ten other counties of Piedmont North Carolina.
